The Civil War Reenactment was held at Washington's Ferry Farm in December 2005. We remember it well because it was cold!!! Very cold! It was about 7 degrees (that's seven, in case you think it's a typo). There was an inch or two of snow on the ground. Of course, the ground was frozen. And it was cold. How cold was it? It was so cold that the cleaner we use on the copper kettle froze to the sides. Then when we squirted water on the cleaner, the water froze. It took us quite a while to get things warm enough to actually clean the kettle properly. Cold, cold, cold. We hope it never gets that cold again at one of our events.
On the other hand, we do love the Civil War reenactments. It's a chance to meet some of the nicest people. The reenactors, and the crowds that come out to see them, are fantastic. They take time to talk to us and they seem to really love kettle korn.
