Fredericksburg Christmas Parade

2009

We were planning to be at the Christmas Parade but it snowed a lot, enough that we thought they would cancel the event. They didn't, but we still think it was a good idea not to go out in the snow for the parade.

2008

We were right next to the Visitors Center on Caroline street. That's where the parade starts and it was a great place to grab some sweet treats. We were right beside Olde Tyme Lollipops, with their hot, sweet funnel cakes and tasty cotton candy. Diane's Dogs was there, too.

We were assisted by Massaponax High School Parent Teacher Student Organization (MHS PTSO) again and raised some money for their programs.

We did see a lot of snow. The temperature was in the 30's and it snowed off and on. But, we survived the snow and still managed to have a good time.

2007

We were set up across the street from the Visitor's Center. (Construction was started in 2008 on a new hotel at that site so we can't set up in that location again.) We were set up alongside Olde Time Lollipops (fantastic funnel cakes and cotton candy) and Diane's Dogs (yummy).
Several members of the Massaponas High School Parent Teacher Student Orgainzation (MHS PTSO) were on hand to help us out and together we were able to raise $400 for their programs, such as the After-Prom Party and a student scholarship.

2006

For the 2006 Christmas Parade, we set up next to the Fredericksburg Area Museum as a fund raiser for Massaponas High School Parent Teacher Student Orgainzation. The MHS PTSO provided several pairs of helping hands and we sold a bunch of kettle korn and hot cocoa. The parade's theme was Christmas in the Caribbean. Lots of Jimmy Buffet tunes, palm trees and steel drums. We loved it.

2004

The 2004 Christmas Parade was our very first event. We made arrangements with the Spanish Club at Thornburg Middle School to do the event as a fundraiser. They provided two teachers and several students to sell the kettle korn and Larry did the popping.

We were across the street from Fredericksburg Baptist Church, next to the old bank. Imagine our surprise when we set up and found ourselves right next to a Christian motorcycle group. Even more surprising was the fact that they were giving away hot cocoa and popcorn. It was part of their ministry, so they gave away popcorn. Still, we set up right next to them, selling our korn. We must have been doing something right. We had very good sales and raised some money for the Spanish Club.
