Spotsylvania Christmas Parade

2011

We set up near where the Pear Tree used to be. Right on the parade route. The Pear Tree has moved to the Courthouse Village and they are just a short walk down from us. We're right next to the judges' stand, so we get to see the parade participants showing off for the judges. Lots of fun and no problems finding a parking spot!

2006

The Spotsylvania Christmas Parade passes right in front of the Spotsylvania Courthouse. For the 2006 Christmas Parade, we set up in front of the Pear Tree, a very cute shop located just 100 yards northwest of the Courthouse. It is stuffed with fascinating things that have to be seen to be believed. And back in the back is a sit-down cafe. The perfect place to unwind and enjoy a hot drink and something sweet.

They allowed us to set up for free as a fund raiser for the Massaponas High School Parent Teacher Student Orgainzation. The MHS PTSO provided some helping hands and we sold a bunch of kettle korn and hot cocoa. We shut down before the parade ended, in order to make it to the parade downtown in Fredericksburg (why do Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania always schedule their Christmas parades on the same day?). We'd like to work it out next time to be able to stay through the entire parade and then take our time in shutting down.
